THE ORIGIN STORY
Rural City Beer Co. was built on a belief that great beer doesn't need to come from a big city — and that a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania could produce something worth driving to. Founders Ben and James set up their brewery in Reamstown, PA — literally in the tallest building in town — and got to work. The mission was straightforward: combine traditional brewing methods with creative, abstract thinking and deep roots in the local community. The result is a tap list that rotates constantly, a food menu built around real ingredients, and a taproom where regulars and first-timers feel equally welcome.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We don't brew the same beers on repeat just because they sell. We brew what's interesting, what's seasonal, what challenges us — and we make sure every single pour is true to style. That means if we make a lager, it tastes like a lager should. If we make a stout, it's a proper stout. The food follows the same logic. We source locally — Clyde S. Weaver meats, Hippey's ring bologna, Hammond pretzels — because Lancaster County has incredible producers and they deserve to be on the menu.

What started in Reamstown has grown. Our Lancaster City Taproom at 25 W King St brings Rural City beer to the heart of downtown Lancaster — same quality, same commitment, a whole different energy. Whether you find us in a small-town brewery or a downtown taproom, you're getting the same thing: honest craft beer, real food, and a place worth coming back to.
TWO GREAT BROTHERS AND BREWERS
Two bothers who started brewing together in a garage in Lancaster have continued their passionate hobby and have turned it into a dream they’ve had from the start. From their garage brewing for friends and family, to working at multiple breweries within the county to hone and perfect their skills, to now building one of the premier craft breweries that Lancaster County has to offer, their goal continues to create excellent beer that represents the area and their own creativity.
